shared savings through shared strength.
Yankee Alliance Supply Chain Solutions, a 501(e) not-for-profit, provides group purchasing and supply chain management services to 40+ acute care hospitals. Members also have access to the transformational learning opportunities provided by Yankee Alliance, Inc.
Our broad and effective group purchasing program is built upon a base of strong national contracts through our membership in Premier, one of the nation's largest group purchasing organizations. Premier contracts typically offer multiple price tiers, with the best prices available to the largest members. Yankee Alliance aggregates our member volume to reach those best price tiers. As a result, all our members become eligible for the best pricing. Suppliers gain greater market share and higher volumes. This aggregation model differentiates Yankee Alliance from other organizations that do not have the staff or expertise to develop these programs, nor the commitment from members to utilize them.
We complement the Premier portfolio with contracts specifically developed by and for our members. Our peer group advisory committees provide feedback and exchange of ideas that inform our contracting decisions. These contracts fill in the gaps and enhance the national offerings. Our members purchase over 1.4 billion dollars in supplies and services through Yankee Alliance contracts. Premier represents over 29 billion dollars in contract purchases. Our combined portfolio is among the best in the marketplace.
Recognizing that reducing the price of supplies is only one way to drive down costs, Yankee Alliance Supply Chain Solutions works with its members, through our supply chain management tools and programs, to gain insight into their entire supply chain spend with a view toward increased savings through better contract and product utilization and standardization.
